NOAA Fisheries reports North Atlantic right whales are approaching extinction with fewer than 350 remaining. Researchers closely monitor the southeastern United States for new offspring during the annual right whale calving season. Thirteen new North Atlantic right whale calves have been identified so far this year.
Please join Julie Albert of the Marine Resources Council on the Space Coast River Tour boat for an update on the 2022 right whale calving season this Sunday, Jan. 30th, at 3 p.m. The sunset cruise launches from Kelly Park on Merritt Island and will tour the Banana River and Canaveral harbor to view a great variety of birds, dolphins, manatees, an occasional alligator, and one of the busiest cruise ports in the world.
