Humans Are Threat to Endangered Whales
WESH 2 News reports North Atlantic right whales have been listed as endangered for 80 years, and in 2020 their status was upgraded to critically endangered. That’s why advocates are so focused on conservation and protection.
“It is illegal to be within 500 yards of a North Atlantic right whale, so we’re just trying to get the word out that people need to give them their space. As long as we can prevent human interactions and stop killing them accidentally, they should be able to bounce back on their own,” Julie Albert, Marine Resources Council’s North Atlantic Right Whale Conservation Program Coordinator, said.
