Environmental Education Unpaid Internship

Interns wanted to assist the MRC in its efforts to save the Indian River Lagoon through the Environmental Education Program. MRC is pleased to offer this opportunity with the goal of enhancing real world experiences for local college level students.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and organize the Lagoon House Education Center Stations
  • Assist with MRC education programs, such as Brown Bag Lunches, Rain Barrel Workshops, and Mangrove Workshops
  • Assist the Education Coordinator with field trips, service learning and educational events
  • Tour guests through the Lagoon House

Qualifications:

  • Major in Environmental Education, Education, Uteach, Interdisciplinary Science, or related field
  • Junior level or above
  • Strong public speaking skills
  • Experience in lesson planning
  • Interest in learning environmental community education programs
  • Enthusiasm for conservation and the Indian River Lagoon
  • Availability and personal transportation to work flexible hours during the week and occasional Saturdays

Completion of a final written report* due to internship advisor must include:

  • Log of hours
  • Project Metrics defined in Post Report Rubric
  • A description of any and all projects you worked on during internship
  • A summary of skills learned, shift in perspectives, reflections, and implications you may have faced during the internship

*This final report may be combined with a course project and tailored to meet the needs of the course.
