Communications Unpaid Internship

Marine Resources Council

Interns wanted to assist the MRC in its efforts to save the Indian River Lagoon through the Communication Program. MRC is pleased to offer this opportunity with the goal of enhancing real world experiences for local college-level students.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate speakers for the Brown Bag lecture series
  • Explore funding options and grant writing skills to assess options for the MRC
  • Manage social media accounts
  • Create press releases for MRC events
  • Analysis of advertising options in local newspapers and magazines

Qualifications:

  • Major in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field
  • Sophomore level or above
  • Some experience in coordinating and advertising events
  • Proficient on Social Media Platforms and appropriate material
  • Enthusiasm for conservation and the Indian River Lagoon
  • Availability and personal transportation to work flexible hours during the week and occasional Saturdays

Completion of a final written report* due to internship advisor must include:

  • Log of hours
  • Project Metrics defined in Post Report Rubric
  • A description of any and all projects you worked on during internship
  • A summary of skills learned, shift in perspectives, reflections, and implications you may have faced during the internship

*This final report may be combined with a course project and tailored to meet the needs of the course.
