Dec. 1 Webinar: Right Whales in Peril
An MRC Lunch & Learn Webinar
December 1, 2020
12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Attendance is free.
Watch our Lunch & Learn Webinar, “Right Whales in Peril: Is Extinction Avoidable?,” with the MRC’s Julie Albert. See below for video from this event.
The North Atlantic right whale population is fewer than 400 individuals, with about 85 breeding females. Their greatest risks are entanglements in commercial fishing gear and vessel strikes. By the year 2040, it is believed they will no longer be able to reproduce.
Find out what’s being done to save them and what can you do to help bring them back from the brink. The seminar will end with a live Q&A session.

About Our Presenter
Julie Albert is the Coordinator for the North Atlantic Right Whale Conservation Program. Seeing whales in the wild for the first time at the age of 15 is what sparked her passion for whale conservation. She has coordinated MRC’s Right Whale Conservation Program for 22 years and recently became involved in furthering the use of ropeless fishing gear technology by pot/trap fishermen. Julie enjoys teaching the public about how we can be better stewards of our ocean environment and its inhabitants and always leaves the beach better than she found it.
This virtual event is free but you must register to receive the Zoom link and login information. If interested and able, we ask participants to donate toward our guest speaker series. MRC’s Lunch & Learn Webinar series is a long-standing and cherished social offered to the East Central Florida coast region, and is supported by volunteers and the community’s charitable giving.
